This month Ben presents a bumper overview of machinima notables from the archives, including Quake releases, films, appearances, media coverage and the very first Machinima Film Festival that took place at Quakcon.
This month, each of us put together a ‘Let’s Play’ video covering a different aspect of Machinima. For mine, I chose to do a behind the scenes video for Heir to the Empire. Watch as I put together a scene from Chapter 14 using iClone. From animating the characters, fixing some clipping issues to lip sync and facial expressions.
In this episode, Ricky, Tracy and Damien discuss a selection of films with the AI known as Phil, whilst the real Phil is off on holiday in sunny New York with his real family. The selection this month covers the full scale of quality with some raw and experimental machinima work and some incredibly polished machinima, with much in between. Games the machinima works draw on includes RDR2, GTA5, Little Nightmares 2, Xcom, Mech Warrior, Skyrim, Max Payne and Roblox with a bit of Blender thrown in for good measure. Enjoy!
Ricky talks to John Martin II, VP of Reallusion, about the development of iClone as a machinima tool in the early 2000s and its recent integration with Nvidia’s Omniverse platform, Character Creator, the original inspiration for iClone, and future plans for iClone 8 teased for release later in 2021.
